Emotions vs Negotiate!!

Assalamualaikum wbt.

23 December 2010.. Today in BeST programme, we had a long discussion on the art of negotiation skills. For me myself, I think that to negotiate people, it's quite difficult to do so as not everyone has the same thought like we did. And the most important element that determine that whether the negotiation to be succeed or not is emotions. We sometimes might get too carried by the emotions, and at the end, the decision made will only give handicap on both sides.

We also had an acting class on Friday, and we ended the day with a grouping karaoke session, leaded by our young talented singer, Nazreen.. We sang 'It's Only Words' song by Bee Gees and it almost make me cry thinking that this is the last class we had with our beloved Mr Hisham. well done Mr Hisham!! Insyaallah all the tazkirah and advices you gave to us will remain forever and bring benefit in our life..Insyaallah.. The day went smoothly and hopefully tomorrow will be even better..Insyallah,..

Mock interview!!

Assalamualaikum wbt.

20 December 2010.. Today in BeST programme we had a mock interview session. We had been divided into two groups. The first group was being interviewed by Mr Abdullah and another group with Mr Farouk and I'm in the second group. There about total of 37 interviewees for each group. I'm the 15th person on the list and got interviewed after the lunch break..

From what I've known and based on my past experiences, it is a compulsary to know if not much, a bit on the background of the company you'll get interviewed and the job requirement and responsibilties of the applied position. Get a review back on the resume submitted to them as they might asked you a question on the background based on the info given in the resume. Get to know yourself first and make sure to know your strength that can be used to sell yourself to the company. If you'll get asked on the weaknesses that you had, try to make it look in postive ways.

And the most important thing is to appear as the best of yourself during the interview. Always remember that there is no second chance for first impression. Try not to look too nervous and always smile to show that you interested in the conversation and eager to get the position. At first, I really nervous that I start shivering (imagined that it was a real interview although it just a mock one..LOL) but once I sat down and try to smile, I obtained my strength and confidence and Alhamdulillah, the interview went smoothly. I've got some comment from Mr Farouk where he told me that I'm a bit to fast in my speaking. Insyaallah, I'll improve on it and hopefully I can do much better in the future interviews.

Assalamualaikum wbt.

17 December 2010.. Today in BeST programme, we had a very interesting discussion on grooming with Mdm Leilanie.. How to transform yourself from someone that physically look just normal to someone extraordinary and can impress others? Yup. Grooming and only grooming. And of course it requires sacrifices and effort. We need to sacrifice some of the time and money of course.. But it's worth it, right, if it can help to boost up your confidence and make others to  recognize you. But the most important element required in my opinion to be success in grooming is to have the will and courage to try something new. It's abour try and error maybe, sometimes.

And as far as I remembered, this is the best grooming session I've attained so far and Alhamdulillah, maybe it's my day as I'm being selected as one of the "victims" to be transformed. And I'm quit shocked with the transformation and it really help me to build a bit confidence in myself to try other style later on.

Hopefully, I can use all the knowledge I've obtained today to become better in aspect of appearance later on and thus, helping me in my career hunting. Insyaallah..

Leader in myself..

Assalamualaikum wbt.

16 December 2010. Today I'm celebrating my 22nd birthday. Sharing the same date is my group mate, Jalilah. Today also, in BeST program we had a great discussion on communication of a leader, delivered by Prof Dr Syed Omar. A leader is a person that empowered to lead and influence his underlings. Thus, he or she must be able to transfer their thought or instruction in a way so that other will obey or listen to them. "A good leader doing things through other people". A good leader also must be able to speak clearly and at the same time be an active listener.

"A good communicator is made, not born". Thus, everyone had the potential to become a good communicator. A good leaders should inspire their subordinates, not being bossy around. A good leader also must be able to understand them, have a multicultural consideration and don't discriminate and try to understand others perceptions.

In the evening, we've given a case study and being asked to identified the communication problems occurred. Then, a representative from each group is being asked to present it in the front. The best group will be rewarded RM 50. And guess what, we, the Pecah Mental won the money!!!! Thanks to our beloved Dhiya...You're simply the best!! The other group that also rewarded the money is Bioself. Congratulation!!! Hopefully we'll become much more better in the future. Insyaallah.

Have the guts to try it!!!

Assalamualaikum wbt.

14 Dec 2010. Today in BeST program,  we talked about effective and powerful presentation skills. The speakers were Mr Abdullah and Mdm Rusilawati. To make a presentation, which is to some of us found it really difficult to be done (including myself) as we always feel shy and afraid to come forward. Believe it or not, in the US, to speak before a group is on the top list of the ten worst human fear. For a beginners which have the least experience talk in front, we tend to feel extremely nervous and scared but it is completely normal. The thoughts that always popped out in the mind like "Can I do it?","Can I be as good as others?","Will others laugh at me and said bad about me?" always success in swept away the confidence that trying to build inside. So how to overcome this feeling. PRACTICE!! The easiest practice that can be done is by talking to a passive object. Next, upgrade it to speak in front of small group. Little by little it help to build self confidence and bravery.
"Be not angry that you cannot make others as you wish to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be"  Thomas à Kempis
After the confidence, the other important component is knowledge on many fields. This can be seen in the impromptu topic session. If we have less knowledge on the topic, just imagine how you can elaborate on the topic. Other than that, it's important to keep the nonverbal language on compost as it may drag away the attention of the audience.

It's OK to write a note as a reference during the presentation, just make sure not to depend too much on it. How to not to depend on it ? Simple. Get to know well about the topic. But the most important thing of all, to be a good presenter, all that we need is PRACTICE, PRACTICE, AND KEEP PRACTICING. It's take patience, time and effort to become a so-called expert presenter. Be volunteered to come to the front as slowly but surely, it help to build the confidence. Practice make Perfect!!

Show me the money....

Assalamualaikum wbt.

13 Dec 2010. Today, in BeST program, we had a long discussion on how to design and write an effective business proposal, conducted by our beloved Mdm Farah and Mdm Liza. In my opinion, writing a business proposal is not as much different as in writing a research proposal during my final year project. The major different that I spotted is that in a business report, instead of put the detail on how to conduct a research like in a research proposal, it's written to convince the client in order to obtain the capital to do the project which is also referred to as a solicited type of proposal. It also detail on the staffing and budget needed to do the project.

The main content that must be included in an effective business proposal are :
  1. Prefatory parts (copy of RFP, transmitted letter, summary, title page, table of content, list off figures)
  2. Text parts (intro, background, schedule, staffing, budget)
  3. Appendix
But the most important is always to be remembered to write the proposal with KISS writing style, Keep It Sweet Simple. Meanwhile, in the evening we're given an assignment where each and every group were ask to come out with one proposal topic (which letter will be used in the finale). And after undergone a deep discussion, Pecah Mental came out with the idea of designing a machine that can produce the artificial petroleum as an effort to overcome the shortage of world's most precious nonrenewable source, natural petroleum which we know took thousand years or even more to be produced. I personally hope that we can come out and present a tremendous proposal later on. Insyaallah. Go Go Pecah Mental! Yay yay!!

Good resume + interview = DESIRED JOB!!

Assalamualaikum wbt.

It's been a while since the last time we met Mdm. Farah and Mdm. Liza. Miss their motivation so much!! Today, 10th December 2010, we discussed on writing an effective resume. People tend to have some fallacies about resume such as we need to include everything in them or a good resume will secure them to get the position desired (which I also sometime thought so) whereas it only act as a pass to be interviewed later. And it is also hard to believe that the interviewers will take the average of 45 seconds ONLY 'scanning' the resume (which take me days to write a resume!!). Frustrated? Definitely!!

So, how to impress them?? The easiest ways are using a great picture and the style of writing the resume, succinctly. Another way is to sell the abilities and skills by boosting them using orotund words. But always REMEMBER not to lie by altering the past or claims something that we don't even have. I'm really hoping that I can fully used the knowledge I obtained to write a better resume later on..Insyaallah..

Meeting...meeting...meeting..

Assalamualaikum wbt.

9th December 2010.. Today, we discovered a new thing on how to conduct an effective meeting delivered by Assoc. Prof. Mohd Khir. Most of us (including me) may went went through meetings during their studies, I'm sure about it. But this is the first time I personally knew that meeting can also be illegal can be challenge to courts! And believe it or not, most workers spending about 15% their working hours just with meeting.

An effective meeting doesn't necessary take a longer time or more agendas to be discussed. The main thing is that the result (decision) generated from the meeting as it's going to be implemented by the organization in the future. Just imagine if the decision was made fallaciously. Isn't it going to stab them back later?

The appointed person for a meeting must come preparedly. This is where the agendas were provided in the meeting's notice where it's functioned as a schedule to picturize the flow of the meeting. Last but not least, there are does and don't in conducting in a way to make the best output from the meeting (effective) and consuming less time (efficient).

"Art of Public Speaking"

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Today, we learned about "Art of public speaking", presented by Mr. Hisham Ab. Karim. In this class, we've been exposed on how to become a good and effective public speakers, firstly by building our bravery and confidence to speak and stand in front. As for beginning, we start by learned the requirements required in order for someone to become a good public speaker. Some of the requirements are ones must be able to organize their speech, speak confidently and use proper language. Apart from that, it is crucial to choose an interesting subject in order to attract the attention of the listeners.

Other than that, we also learned about various elements that need to be fulfilled to become an effective public speakers. The elements are as follow :
  • Volume (not to be too loud or too soft)
  • Rate (not too fast or too slow)
  • Emphasis (needed to stress on some keywords)
  • Articulation
  • Organization
  • Word choices
In the evening, we have a group presentation where each group was provided with one item and they must elaborate it in dramatization. I found it really hilarious and some acting talents had been discovered among the participants and it's really an enjoyable session. Followings are some comments given by Mr. Hisham and Ms. Nani :
  • some participants still too shy to open their mouth
  • work out more on pronunciation of certain words
  • try to reduce the usage of fillers
  • avoid to look and depend on the script
  • don't show your back to the audiences
  • build up the confidence in the future
Lastly, the most important thing to become an effective public speaker is to listen, learn and practice to speak. Practice make perfect. And these are some best shots that I able to take during the session. That's all for now. Thank you.

Salam Maal Hijrah 1432H

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Salam Maal Hijrah 1432H to all muslimin and muslimat, with this year theme's, "1 Malaysia, 1 Ummah". Referring to the message given by our beloved prime minister, YAB Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak during the opening ceremony, this theme is coincide with the prophet's spirit to create a nation based on values, social justice and acceptance through diversity. The theme is seem so close with us as our vision to transform and Malaysia now can be reviewed as one of a progressively developing country in the world. Actually, it all can be achieved only if  everyone in this country contribute their full commitment through all fields including financial, social or even political. These seem to coincide with Surah al-An'am : 6 which mean "Sesiapa yang membawa amal kebaikan, maka baginya (balasan) sepuluh kali ganda (dari kebaikan) yang sama dengannya dan sesiapa yang membawa amal kejahatan, maka ia tidak dibalas melainkan (kejahatan) yang sama dengannya; sedang mereka tidak dianiaya (sedikitpun)".

We must take the lessons gained from the event of migration of His Prophet and his followers from Makkah to Madinnah and appreciate their sacrifices in effort to build a strong and respectful Islam like what we're having these days. No matter what challenge facing us, we must unite and force to uphold Islam and against the outside of the negative elements that will invade and destroy not only our religious, but also the race and our country if it is not be eradicated soon enough. May this year become a better year for each and everyone of us to become a better khalifah. Insyaallah.. Salam Maal Hijrah..

"How to reach an audience through blogging"

Assalamualaikum wbt.

"How to reach an audience through blogging?". What is blog actually? To me, blog is like an electronic pen, where we can express and share the feelings, experiences, curiosity, knowledge and even our unsatisfactory about something to the readers, which are human being of course, just like us. The words can be sharper than a sword!!

So how can we reach them through blogs, a media without an eyes, ear, heart  and feeling like a human being? Actually it's not something that is impossible to be done although it might sound so. The first image will give first impression. In this case, the website will represent the writer. Try to not use too crowded layouts. It's a norm of human being, people tend to like something simple compared to something complex.  Be creative, try to make the blog interesting to be read and not to make the reader feel annoyed or bored when reading it. Widgets can be added to make the website more attractive but be careful not to put too much of it as it may cause overcrowding.

The easiest way to attract readers, in my opinion is through interesting blog title. So, be creative on it. Bloggers can specified the theme of their blog such as healthy, finance, politics et cetera. Bloggers must try to use proper language which can be understood by various range of age. The issues chosen also must be appropriate, not to be too sensitive which can hurt feeling of others or worse, cause catastrophe outside such as issue on races or religious. Blog is the way to express yourself. So when writing, try to write something  from your heart or point of view, and be sincere towards the readers but bloggers must be really careful when criticized to avoid misconception.

The readers normally tend to leave their comments after reading the posts. Bloggers can attract them by responding to the comments, and  try not to be too criticized on them, although some of the comments might hurt your feeling. Just accept the comments and critics as a challenge to write something better in the future. Bloggers also must manage and read through their blog first before posting them to make sure the post is well-arranged, so that the readers won't have difficulty trying to understand what you try to tell them.

As conclusion, blog can be an effective way for human being to communicate as long as it is manage in a proper way. Criticized is allowed but be sure to do it in a well mannered way and not hurting others. Furthermore, if the blog is used properly, it can actually help people to widen their network of relationship or a media for them to create a better world for tomorrow. Insyaallah.

"never say never"

Assalamualaikum wbt.

"See I never thought that I could walk through fire.
I never thought that I could take the burn.
I never had the strength to take it higher,
Until I reached the point of no return.

And there,s just no turning back,
When your hearts under attack,
Gonna give everything I have,
It,s my destiny.

I will never say never! (I will fight)
I will fight till forever! (make it right)
Whenever you knock me down,
I will not stay on the ground.".....

This is my latest favorite song, "Never Say Never" singing by Justin Bieber ft. J.Smith and above are my favorite lines.. It motivated me a lot whenever I listen to it. Today, I learned on how to improve my blog better in the future and hopefully I can apply what I've learned especially after I get motivated from Miss Zita. Haha. =P. Before, I always think that blogging and writing are not my thing and of course, to get too into it is so not me. But today, after reviewing some of my friends' blog, it inspired me!! I mean, just look how they can express what they thought and feel in the way that can make me feel the same like they did. So, if they can do it, so why can't I, right. It's not a bad idea to try it before you conclude it. And even if you fail, it's not like we can't fixed them and try to do better the next time. It's not we're going to fail forever, right. One day for sure, success will be ours!!!! Mwahahaha (evil laugh..=P) Come on!! Think positive, be positive.. Cause if you don't, how can you know what you're weak in and thus, how to fix it. It's all come back to your  bravery, either you want to be 'chickened' and left out far behind or dare to try and try moving forward. So, that's it. Let's work out together  in what ever you do and may success wait us at the end of the road. Insyaallah..

rape crime!!!

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Hello. We meet again. This time, I would like to share an article which I read from metro online, titled "Diperkosa dalam stor" which happened to a 16 years old girl!! This unfortunate incident happened on last Friday around 1.30 pm when victim was forced to enter the store and was left there alone before a Bangladesh worker, in this case the criminal, done this totally unethical and unforgivable crime. The victim who still traumatized from the incident, had made a police report at Hulu Selangor Police Department and submitted to Hospital Selayang for treatment. It is shocking to be informed that the girl was not being raped once, but few times!! How will the life of that girl be after this. Arghh it make me so angry when thinking about it!!! Just imagine if the same thing happened to your family member. Poor girl. All I can do is just praying the best for her and hope she will be tough to get through this conjecture. Insyaallah..

So here, I would like to share some tips for girls @ woman out there on how to avoid yourself from being one of the victim. Maybe you already informed and known most of them, so just take it as a reminder and try to practice them for our own good, ok. So these are the tips :
  • NOT to walk alone at night or at place with not much people around
  • NOT to take a ride from someone you don't know. If you taking a taxi, take the plat number and if possible, the name of the driver. For some tips, you can just pretend to call someone and inform them about the taxi you're riding on so that the driver would be scared to harm you.
  • try NOT to wear something too sexy or wear too much perfume as it may attract their intense sexual desire towards you.
  • 21.4% cases reported were involving men in their 20's were objectively caused by anger and grudge. So ladies, try to act more gentle towards men, in other words if you have to reject their confession, do it with the good manner. Not to humiliate them OK.
There are many other tips you can read from the magazines and internet. Or if you feel like sharing them through this post, please feel free to do so. And as for gentlemen out there, you had been created by Allah to be the one that protecting us, women, the weak creatures and not to violate us. Just imagine if some other guy do the same things towards your family member, you will be angry aren't you. That's all I wanna share for now. Take care and have a good  and productive day!!!..
